Family Therapy in Washington DC
I work with families in person in my office in Washington, DC, as well as online. I understand that family relationships can be deeply meaningful while also becoming complicated, especially during periods of change. Families may seek therapy when they are struggling with communication, recurring conflict, shifting roles, or feeling disconnected from one another. Sometimes a family comes to therapy because an adolescent is struggling, while other families seek support as children become adults and relationships change.
I work with families to better understand the patterns that have developed between them and create space for each person to express their perspective. Together, we can work toward greater understanding, more effective communication, and new ways of relating to one another.

My approach to family therapy
I take a psychodynamic and relational approach to family therapy. I am interested in understanding both the individual experiences of each family member and the dynamics that develop within the family as a whole.
Together, we may explore:
-
recurring patterns of conflict or disconnection
-
communication difficulties
-
changing family roles and expectations
-
parenting and adolescent concerns
-
transitions as children become adults
-
boundaries and differences in needs
-
how past experiences shape current family dynamics
-
experiences of identity, gender, sexuality, and difference within the family
My goal is not to assign blame or determine who is right. Instead, I work to help family members develop greater understanding of themselves and one another and find more constructive ways of relating.
Who I work with
I work with families of adolescents and adult children. I also work with parents, family members, and loved ones who want to better understand and support a family member navigating questions of gender, sexuality, or identity.
What to expect
Family sessions are 50 minutes. We will work together to determine who should participate in sessions and how frequently we meet based on your family's needs and goals.
I strive to create a thoughtful and supportive environment where different perspectives can be expressed openly. Family therapy can involve difficult conversations, but it can also create an opportunity to understand longstanding patterns and develop new ways of relating.
Fees
Family sessions are $225 for 50 minutes. I am an out-of-network provider and provide a superbill that you can submit to your insurance company for possible reimbursement. I recommend checking with your insurance provider about your out-of-network benefits.
Start with a consultation
If you're considering family therapy, I offer a free 15-minute consultation to talk about what brings your family to therapy and whether we might be a good fit.
