Couples Therapy
in Washington DC

Relationships can be a source of deep connection and also of conflict, hurt, and uncertainty. You may feel stuck in recurring arguments, disconnected from your partner, or unsure how to move forward after a rupture in the relationship. Sometimes couples seek therapy because they want to strengthen an already healthy relationship, while others come when they are struggling with more significant conflict or considering whether to stay together.

I work with couples to better understand the patterns that develop between them and the experiences that shape those patterns. Therapy can be a space to slow things down, communicate more openly, and develop a deeper understanding of one another.

My approach to couples therapy

I take a psychodynamic and relational approach to couples therapy. I am interested not only in what couples are arguing about, but in what may be happening underneath the conflict.

Together, we may explore:

  • recurring patterns of conflict or disconnection

  • communication difficulties

  • attachment and relationship dynamics

  • trust and ruptures in the relationship

  • intimacy and sexuality

  • differences in needs, expectations, or values

  • infidelity and relationship transitions

  • how past experiences influence the current relationship

My goal is not to determine who is right or wrong. Rather, I work to help each person better understand themselves, their partner, and the dynamics between them.

Who I work with

I work with monogamous and polyamorous couples, including couples navigating questions around commitment, boundaries, intimacy, and relationship structure.

I also work with couples who are LGBTQ+ and welcome relationships of diverse gender and sexual identities.

What to expect

Couples sessions are 50 minutes. We will work together to determine the frequency that makes sense for your goals and circumstances.

I strive to create a thoughtful, balanced environment where both partners can speak openly and feel heard. Therapy can be uncomfortable at times, particularly when longstanding patterns are being explored, but my aim is to create a space where difficult conversations can happen with curiosity and care.

Fees

Couples sessions are $225 for 50 minutes. I am an out-of-network provider and provide a superbill that you can submit to your insurance company for possible reimbursement. I recommend checking with your insurance provider about your out-of-network benefits.

Start with a consultation

If you're considering couples therapy, I offer a free 15-minute consultation to talk about what brings you in and whether we might be a good fit.
